Ewan McEwan, Brief Biography

Ewan McEwan was born in London, UK.  After leaving school he worked at sailing schools both at home and abroad before joining the National Sailing Centre, Cowes, GBR, as an instructor and coach.  He went on the work at Plas Menai, the National Watersports Centre for Wales leading the instructor and competition training programmes.  Ewan was national coach training youth and junior competitors for five years whilst also completing a Diploma in Leisure Management Studies and membership, by examination, to the Institute of Leisure & Amenity Management.

Ewan’s personal competitive sailing has ranged from the Laser class through to competing at a one event on the America’s Cup class boats.  He was Offshore Race Crew Instructor on the Royal Ocean Racing Club training boat and has competed in two Royal Lymington Cups.

In 1989 Ewan joined the two-year, full-time, MBA programme at Manchester Business School.  Over the last 15 years Ewan has worked with a wide range of companies and organisations researching, designing and delivering development programmes.  He was one of the founding consultants involved in the Investors in People national role out and has worked with numerous international companies.

In sailing Ewan attends international sailing events all over the world to adjudicate, including events for the 32nd America’s Cup and five world championships, two as chairman of the International Jury, as well as numerous Grade 1 events.

Ewan is divorced with two grown up daughters and is currently based in North Wales, UK, but travels extensively for his work in sport and management development consultancy.
